In order to make the WeAreDevelopers Magazine more diverse and to cover topics outside of our own expertise, we decided to open it to guest posts. To this end, we are looking for contributors to write articles with us and benefit from the reach we’ve accumulated over the years.
What we are looking for
If you are an aspiring writer and have something interesting to show, we’d love to hear from you!
We are looking for various content pieces:
Topics can include anything developer related, and what we covered at our events and in our other publications. If there are soft-skills topics that apply, we also would love to share that with our community.
How to write and format your submission:
We are looking for short and snappy articles that don’t need more than 5 minutes to read. It turned out that deep-dives are great in the long run, but easily overwhelm people and aren’t read that much. If you have a larger topic to cover, we’re also open to having a series of posts.
The WeAreDevelopers Magazine uses a bespoke CMS and needs the content in Markdown format and all the images provided as a zip file. You can also use online writing tools, but make sure we can get the images and videos as they are sometimes hard to extract.
What we are not looking for
This should not be a place to directly advertise services and products. Your insights and knowledge should get people interested and they will come to you for more information. We are not looking for sponsored content in the format of “Product X solves all your Y problems” - this is a magazine by developers for developers. So let’s talk about the meat and the details - warts and all. We are also not looking for AI generated content - this is a place to make your own voice heard - not a perfect SEO optimized, boring essay.
What’s in it for you?
WeAreDevelopers is a well known and respected brand and we share that reach and connections with you.
The main content editor of the magazine is Chris Heilmann, former editor of the Yahoo Developer Blog, the Mozilla Developer Blog, the Microsoft Edge blog, author of several books and contributor to Smashing Magazine, Sitepoint, Skillshare and LinkedIn Trainer.
Authors might also be invited to be part of the WeAreDevelopers LIVE Show and the Coffee with Developers Podcast
