Write the Docs is a global community of people who care about documentation. This includes developers, technical writers, customer support teams, designers, project managers, developer advocates, and anyone who wants users to have a great experience with technology.

Since 2013, Write the Docs has hosted conferences in cities like Portland, Prague, Sydney, and Amsterdam. In 2025, we are excited to bring this experience to Nigeria.

Join us on November 8th, 2025, as we gather with over 200 attendees to explore how to build documentation cultures that support sustainable growth in tech communities, open source, and organizations.

The Writethedocs Nigeria Summit is looking for people who care about communication, clarity, and helping people succeed with software.

Whether you write docs, design them, manage teams, build tools, or foster contributor communities, your experience is valuable. 


Speaker Criteria

We are looking for people who:

  • Have useful insights, practical strategies, or lessons to share
  • Can explain their ideas clearly and keep the audience engaged
  • Reflect a variety of backgrounds, roles, and experiences in tech

We encourage submissions from both first-time and experienced speakers.



Topics of Interest

This year’s topic areas focus on building and sustaining strong documentation practices:

  • Creating a Documentation Culture: How to make documentation a shared value across teams.
  • Sustainable Docs Practices: Long-term maintenance, versioning, and keeping documentation alive.
  • Onboarding and Knowledge Transfer: Using documentation to support new contributors, employees, and users.
  • Measuring Impact: Metrics, user feedback, and showing the value of documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Processes that connect writers, developers, designers, and product managers.
  • Documentation in Open Source: Encouraging contributions and improving contributor experience.
  • Inclusive Documentation: Writing for diverse audiences, across languages and cultures.
  • Documentation Tools and Systems: Tech and workflows that make docs easier to write, maintain, and access.
  • AI and Documentation: How AI is impacting documentation


We also welcome relevant case studies, success stories, and real-life lessons from documentation efforts that made a lasting impact.
