After growing up in rural North Dakota and expecting to live there forever, Alyson has enjoyed experiences that have widened her worldview and opened many opportunities for service to others. Mrs. Jacobson and her family lived and worked in Taiwan and El Salvador prior to living in Maryland. While in El Salvador, Mrs. Jacobson taught 4th grade at an international school, earned a Master’s Degree in Education, and worked with local Salvadorans on community development and relief projects as a result of natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore and now has a LCSW-C. She has experience with family preservation, child welfare, healthy development of children and families, trauma-based treatment, an early childhood mental health consultant with preschoolers and now directs the Healthy Families and Family Connects home visiting programs within Prince George’s county.
