Bringing down production timelines from 3 months to 3 minutes
Join us as we delve into a case study of a top-performing development team at United Wealth Mortgage, showcasing their success in significantly reducing their Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline from a lead time of 2-3 months to a mere 2-3 minutes. Our discussion will highlight the strategic breakdown of their methodology and the cutting-edge tools leveraged to achieve this remarkable feat.
As we delve deeper into the intricacies of automating application processing, we will explore how developers can revolutionize their DevOps approach while still preserving the critical attributes of velocity and agility.
Walk a mile in Operations engineer shoes
Live a day of an Operations engineer who runs, maintains and scales distributed systems without compromising on reliability, scale and security of the entire application.
Which business goals keep them up at night, their usual pain points and their best practices.
We will discuss the 3 most common problems faced at bigger companies like Amazon, Netflix, etc.
1. Security and compliance of data
2. Automations across various applications
3. Constant productivity and quality improvements in the process
You can expect to learn the following
1. Navigating data and ambiguity
2. Invent and simplify
3. Creating quality suggestions for manual work
Using AWS Rekognition to stream content for billions
Presenting a talk that we did with Amazon AWS at IBC conference in the Netherlands from 9-12 October 2022.
This talk uses Amazon Rekognition service to build end-to-end media supply chain tasks.
Imagine Amazon Prime, Disney, Hotstar, Netflix or any other major OTT platform. The process to upload media files to finally broadcasting them to billions of people requires flawless engineering.
This complex process includes processes like encoding pipelines, asset management, Quality control, Subtitling and Localization, AI-driven content analysis, CDN deployments
In my talk, I will present a workflow co-designed by Amazon and Orkes built on Netflix Conductor that is used to stream your favourite movies and shows on virtually any OTT of the world.
Build resilient applications using orchestration
As we move towards an exciting future of more distributed systems, we are bound to encounter microservices written in different languages and infrastructures.
The resiliency of different applications only makes sense if they come together beautifully to create one invincible application.
Challenges we will discuss:
1. Building powerful workflows across microservices without worrying about maintaining state
2. Understanding how your microservices are performing in production. Pinpointing issues and correlations across your services.
3. Orchestrates workflows across mixed languages ecosystems
In this session, we will talk about how companies like Netflix, Tesla, etc. used orchestration to build robust and scalable applications that inspire innovation and how we can build it too.
Building applications 10x faster
Modern application development has changed a lot in the last 10 years
With cloud hosting, containerization and microservices, apps could be running across many languages and cloud environments simultaneously
This loosely coupled environment is great for companies to build fast, choose tools and languages that fit their use-case
But it also means orchestrating business flows across this heterogenous environment brings new complexities for achieving higher reliability and scalability
In this talk, we learn about the challenges of developers building on modern software architecture and how can they learn to build applications across various cloud environments, microservices and languages. All that while maintaining higher agility and resiliency.
We will also learn how can we do better error management, retry handling and state management across distributed flows.
