I have a chronic illness in the from of a genetic mutation called VACTERL. Part of the disease gave me a visible disability, as well as several other invisible disabilities. I’ve had over 200 surgeries, have several of my doctors’ cell phone numbers on speed dial, and I consider myself a professional patient. My writing also includes published essays about medical PTSD, talking to doctors when you have a chronic illness, and other things about living the chronic illness life. I consider myself a disability advocate and I have very active pages on Facebook and Instagram.

I have a Bachelor’s in Journalism and a Masters in Creative Non-Fiction.

I’ve been married to my husband, who also has VACTERL, since 2011. He was works in tech.. We have 17 nieces and nephews and one cat we named Liza Meownelli. He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and I was born in Southeast Missouri and we currently live in a suburb of Austin. My hobbies include crocheting (I usually have 3 projects going at once) and reading (usually have at least three books going at once).
