Born in Baguio City, Philippines, he moved to Los Angeles at an early age with his family in 1965 (Remedios Geaga, mother; and siblings: Joselyn Geaga-Rosenthal, Jorge Geaga, and Joaquin Geaga) to join their father, Jose V. Geaga. They settled in Larchmont Village where he attended Christ the King Catholic elementary school and Daniel Murphy High School.
Jaime Geaga completed and received his Physician Assistant (PA) Certificate at the Stanford University Medical Center in 1984 and his BA in biology from San Francisco State University. As a PA, he worked for the UC Berkeley School of Public Health “Natural History of HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Study” as clinical coordinator administering cohort participants’ biannual clinic visits to collect their behavioral, laboratory, & medical history & physical exam data for the research study.
He founded and was executive director of the Filipino Task Force on AIDS (FTFA) in 1988 providing information and prevention education to the Filipino Community in San Francisco and statewide.
He received his Masters of Public Health from UC Berkeley in 1992 and served on the National Board of the National Minority AIDS Council. He provided consultation regarding HIV/AIDS with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control.
He currently serves as the chair of the Carlos Bulosan Book Club (www.carlosbulosanbookclub.org) a project of the Friends of Echo Park Branch Los Angeles Public Library in Historic Filipinotown. He is also the Board chair of the newly established KDP Legacy Inc (www.kdplegacy.org)
