Using REST APIs from within TSQL

When sending data through a REST API, you need to pull together multiple tools to get it done. You’ll of course need your database platform to store your data and a service to get the data from your database, send it to the REST API, and then receive and publish the response. Wouldn’t it be great if you could do all that in one tool?? What if I told you, that you absolutely can?? A new feature in public preview for Azure SQL Database allows you to make REST API calls from within your database. In this session, attendees will get a walkthrough of how to make REST API calls from their database and some examples of how they can use this feature within their own environment.

Azure SQL Security: Best Practices to Stay Out of the News

In today's world of rapidly-evolving cyber threats, ensuring the security of your data is of paramount importance. In this session, we will dive into the best practices for securing your Azure SQL database, focusing on the latest security features and techniques to protect your data from potential breaches. By the end of this session, you will have a deeper understanding of how to secure your Azure SQL environment using the latest best practices and techniques. You will also leave with actionable steps to help improve the security of your organization's data.

Migrations to Azure SQL - Tales from the Field

On the Azure FastTrack Product Group we work with a lot of customer when it comes to migrating their SQL Server environments into the cloud. It's important to understand the tools you can use, but there are additional things to consider. What are the business requirements for the SQL Instances and the databases? Are we using the path of least resistance, looking at a digital transformation in stages, or building something new? How do we identify the key concepts, derisk any migration, and accomplish the goal. In this session we hope to point you to resources and give you tips on how to solve those questions.

What's New with Azure Data Factory

Azure Data Factory has launched version 2 of their product in to public beta at the end of 2017. It took the best features of version 1 and added new features in version 2 like time execution triggers, Azure Data Lake activities, and the ability to execute SSIS packages in Azure Data Factory. In this session we will walk through how the product has evolved, and help you understand the full feature set available in version 2. You will also understand how to lift and shift your SSIS packages to Azure Data Factory.

How to Use Azure Arc Data for Data Services

Azure Arc is a new platform that allows you to deploy Azure security and roles to Kubernetes clusters. Azure Arc Data offers the capability to deploy multiple different services to your Kubernetes clusters, in your data center or in multiple cloud providers and regions, and monitor their deployment and patching through the Azure Portal. In this full day pre-con we will discuss what Kubernetes distributions support Azure Arc deployments, we will demonstrate how to deploy and set this up in the could and in the FastTrack lab in Redmond, review performance tuning, best practices, high availability and disaster recovery architectures, and review the different tools you can use to monitor and deploy your solutions.

Get to Know the Azure Arc enabled Services Portfolio

Azure Arc is a vast portfolio of services that allow customers to manage services in Azure, or even run cloud services on premises. The portfolio is large and complex. In this session we'll walk through the different pillars of Azure Arc, and the services within those pillars to cover whether they are used. At the end of this session, attendees will understand the different pieces of the Azure Arc portfolio and use cases for each.

Azure Data Services: Around the platforms in 60 minutes

The number of choices available to you in Azure for architecting data solutions is MIND BLOWING. The hardest part isn't creating the architecture, as much as its picking which services to use in your architecture. This session tries to demystify the Azure Data portfolio so that you know what services to use for which types of scenarios. We'll dive deeper in to comparisons between services where there is overlap. The goal is to keep the slides to a minimum so that there is plenty of time for questions and conversations.

Azure DevOps & Database Projects for Azure Synapse Analytics

We’ve worked with team members from GitHub & Microsoft to develop a process to guide multiple customers to production.
Join members of the Azure Synapse Analytics Product Group and the Azure FastTrack CXP Product Group as we take you on a full end to end project deployment in Azure Synapse Analytics using Azure DevOps. We will enable you to create a DevOps Repo and an ARM template in order to deploy your Dev and Production Environments, next we will start your project in Dev creating a new branch that contains SQL Scripts, Notebooks, Linked Services, a Provisioned SQL and Spark Pools, we will merge branches, create publish and release pipelines, and publish those artifacts to our Prod environment.

Managing an Enterprise Azure Databricks Environment: CI/CD to DR

Join members of the Microsoft Azure FastTrack Engineering PG as we guide you through the best practices for deploying and managing Azure Databricks from your development environment to production and beyond to disaster recovery, DR. We will show how to implement CI/CD using Azure DevOps to migrate packages, notebooks, and configuring jobs from a developers’ environment, to staging, and then to production. We will demonstrate the best practices in configuring your DR environment and how to facilitate a fail over.

Introduction to Azure Arc for Data Services

Azure Arc for Data Services was unveiled last year at Microsoft Ignite. It allows you to run Azure Data Services on a Kubernetes cluster running on infrastructure of your choice. When it was initially announced, Azure SQL Database and Azure Database for PostgreSQL Hyperscale were the first data services announced but more services are coming to the product in the near future. In this session, attendees will get to see the services that are available in Azure Arc for Data Services. We will walk through how to deploy Azure Arc for Data Services in to your Kubernetes cluster of choice. We'll also go through how Azure Arc for Data Services can help your data team simplify the management and monitoring of your data estate.

Attendees should have a basic understanding of Kubernetes and its commonly used tools.
