I earned a BS from Muskingum University in 1980 with majors in Biology and Computer Science and an MS in Computers and Information Systems from The Ohio State University in 1985.

I have worked with JCC Consulting, Inc. since 1985 where I specialize in high performance database systems and data replication. I have also developed course material and provided training on SQL, database administration, and database performance tuning.

I have participated in the US SQL standards committee, INCITS DM32, since 1988 and have served as vice chair of DM32 since 2003. I have participated as a member of the US Delegation to the international SQL and GQL standards committee, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32 WG3, and have served as Convenor (chair) of SC32 WG3 (Database Languages) since 2005.

I am currently working with the Neo4j Language, Standards, and Research (LANGSTAR) team on developing the GQL standard.
