Every Brick Matters - The Unexpected Impact We Have on the People Around Us

Every Brick Matters is an engaging and deeply human conversation about the impact we have on the people around us and how often we underestimate the significance of our individual "brick" in someone else's build.
Using a LEGO brick as a simple but powerful metaphor, Kelli Swank invites the audience to look at their lives, relationships, careers and communities differently. In a LEGO build, every brick has a purpose. Some are visible, some are buried underneath other pieces. Some seem insignificant on their own. But remove just one brick and the entire structure is altered.
The same is true with people.
A conversation with a colleague, a mentor who opens a door, a friend who shows up at the right moment, a leader who believes in someone or a small act of kindness can become a defining part of another person's story. We don't always get to see the finished build and we rarely know which moments will matter most, but that doesn't make the contribution less important.
Kelli's perspective is rooted in an experience that changed her life. After the unexpected loss of her 24 year old son, Jack, in 2024, she found herself looking at purpose and human connection through a completely different lens. His life inspired Kelli to create Building Jack's Legacy, a non profit that provides LEGO sets to children in hospitals facing difficult circumstances and giving them an opportunity to step away and simply be a kid for a while.
Jack's story is not the focus of this presentation but it is the foundation for the message.
Every Brick Matters asks participants to consider three questions. What are you building?
Who are you building it with?
What kind of brick are you choosing to be in someone else's life?
The session encourages participants to recognize their influence, become more intentional with their relationships and understand that meaningful impact does not always come from grand gestures. Sometimes it comes for simply showing up, listening, encouraging someone or reminding another person that they matter.
Participants will leave with a renewed understanding of their own influence and a challenge to become more intentional about the impact their create in their workplaces, relationships and communities. Each participant will also leave with a single LEGO brick as a tangible reminder that they are part of something bigger and that the brick they bring matters.
We may never see the finished build but every brick matters.
