Kimberly is an award-winning designer and planner with a unique ability to bring together diverse stakeholders through cultural competency and meaningful engagement, resulting in collaborative, consensus-based solutions to address complex systemic issues. The daughter of a pediatric nurse practitioner and a respiratory therapist, Kimberly grew up working in several health facilities in her native Florida. Early on, she witnessed numerous birth defects and ailments that were suspicious in origin, many of which coincided with occupancy in certain buildings or near polluting industries. This experience left a lasting impression that underscores her chosen career creating healthy, sustainable environments.

In 2004 Kimberly founded Blue Water Studio, a commercial design and planning firm, specializing in Healthcare, Community and Sustainability projects for built and outdoor environments. With specialty credentials like LEED AP (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional) and EDAC (Evidence Based Design & Construction Accreditation & Certification) Kimberly gets to do what she loves for a living while serving her community through the design of holistic spaces and places. She can frequently be found advocating for equitable access to greenspaces, clean air, water, and nutritious food for all, through responsible, adaptive reuse and sustainable new development projects.

In addition to these fun adventures, Kimberly is also co-founder of RoKi Design. RoKi is a silk scarf & accessories company that produces sustainable, wearable works of art while supporting non-profit organizations, collaborating with amazing artists and re-purposing vintage luxury silk scarves.

Kimberly is also a Leadership Houston Class XL Alum, where she won two awards from her classmates for her work on the class project “Harmony in Houston,” an outdoor musical instrument installation in Denver Harbor’s Selena Quintanilla Perez Park. She is a member of the Rotary Club of West U (Houston) and currently serves as Vice President of the Board for Friends of Columbia Tap.
