LaShae Sharp-Collins is a native San Diegan with deep roots in the community. She received her early education from John F. Kennedy Elementary, Gompers Secondary School,
and Lincoln High School. After graduating high school, LaShae attended San Diego State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Multicultural Counseling, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in higher education.

LaShae is currently the Community Engagement Specialist for the San Diego County Office
of Education and a Professor in the Department of Africana Studies at San Diego State
University. She is the former District Director for the former California State
Assemblymember now California Secretary of State, Dr. Shirey N. Weber. In her work as a
public servant, LaShae worked with various community leaders to create a positive strong
community voice and promote system changes at the local, federal, and state levels. She has
over nine years of experience overseeing the daily operations of a legislative office,
implementation of social justice and racial equity inclusion plans, community engagement,
developing and maintaining key relationships in the community with civic leaders,
community partners.

For fourteen years, LaShae has experienced the joys of classroom teaching. Being an
educator has contributed to both her personal and professional growth. LaShae maintains
an active professional life, presenting papers, coaching youth sports, and serving on
numerous community boards. She is a single mother of two wonderful children. She is a
dedicated mother, and community volunteer, and gives one hundred percent to any task she
undertakes.
