Dr. Melissa Turkal is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner from Pittsburgh. She is faculty at Robert Morris University, where she teaches in the graduate PMHNP-DNP program. She has presented at the PCNP Annual Education Conference, the Greater Pittsburgh Nursing Research Conference, and the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society’s Pittsburgh Chapter. Her original research has been published in the Journal of Nursing Education and Practice.

Her clinical experience includes working in acute care, emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, correctional mental health, community mental health, and private practice. She prioritizes treating women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals with trauma and stressor related disorders. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and attention-deficit disorders.
