Nanyonga Maria Kate is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and she serves on the Partnerships and Business Development desk at the DPO Privacy Centre, East Africa, where she builds partnerships with institutions, regulators, civil society and law firms to advance data protection and grow a privacy culture across the region. She is also the Legal Officer at Golden High School Nsaggu, advising on compliance, contracts and student welfare. Maria holds a Bachelor of Laws from Kampala International University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. She is passionate about practical data protection, especially for children and schools.

The theme was; Humanitarian aid in war-torn regions, I joined a bloc formed by the Switzerland delegate calling for binding obligations on all member states under the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols. In debate, identified the challenges facing aid workers and raised a new perspective on AI weapons advancement. Recruited sponsors from attending organizations, helping the bloc win the support of over 30 delegates and pass the resolution. Our argument was that progress on SDG 2 and SDG 3 is impossible without the rule of law of SDG 16.
