Sakinah Ali Pitchay is an Associate Professor at the Information Security and Assurance Programme. She received her doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and her Master's degree in Software Engineering from University of Technology Malaysia. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. She serves as the Head of Programme in Computer Science since 2015 till 2020. Currently, she has been appointed as the Deputy Dean starting Jan 2021. She is passionate about image enhancement, software engineering, and information security. She has been invited to serve as a keynote and invited speaker for various Hackathons, graduate employability workshops and webinar. Recently, she has been awarded for the Outstanding Leadership Award in conjuction of Education 2.0 Conference at Dubai, UAE in 2024. She has won 51 medals in innovation competitions and was recently awarded the "Innovation & Commercialization Award for 2022, "Innovation & Mentoring Figures", "Graduate Employability Personality Award" in 2021 and Creativity & Innovation Award in 2022 for the faculty's level. She was awarded 1st winner for OIC-CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) Global Cybersecurity Award in UAE, Abu Dhabi in Oct 2023 for her exceptional innovation initiative that benefits society in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi known as Cyber Hasanat. In addition, she has reviewed numerous articles and has been involved in system requirements consultation. She has successfully supervised several postgraduate students and has been appointed as an international external examiner. She also contributes to the society as the online tutor for months organized by Yayasan Petronas as well as in international community activities. Her recent innovation on cybersecurity awareness (Secure Cybercitizenship) board game is utilized for the Service Learning Malaysia-University for Society (SULAM) course. It also been embedded in Cyber Hasanat project that employs good deeds in cybersecurity.
