Tom Daly has over 40 years of IT experience specializing in mission-critical enterprise systems. He spent years at Sun Microsystems optimizing Java performance and leading the development of the industry-standard SPECjAppServer benchmark, before transitioning to cloud architecture across OpenStack, AWS, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Today, Tom does cloud-native DevOps for The Mifos Initiative (mifos.org), using Kubernetes, Helm, and CNCF technologies to help make open-source financial services software accessible , especially to those in developing nations. His hope is that making some of the most valuable cloud-native platforms more accessible and understandable, will lead to real benefits for financial inclusion of the most needy.
Outside his cloud-native work, Tom contributes to child safety research with the University of Adelaide and San Jose State University, contributing to AI-driven tools that help law enforcement rescue victims of child sexual abuse.
