In the organization of CommunityWorks (CommWx) - Community and Critical Access Hospitals, the demographics of these clients vary; however, most are relatively small hospitals, new to the world of technology and last to adopt it. Here's where we make our environmental impact by implementing EMR and going off paper-based records. Once our clients adopt Cerner EHR, they use a computerized provider order entry (CPOE) based ePrescribing (eRx) system. CPOE systems are designed to replace a hospital's paper-based ordering system.
