Area of Expertise
The Power Platform for .Net Developers
This session will give an overview of different areas of Microsoft's Power Platform, with a focus on how they can be extended with .Net. We'll look at how Power Automate is a strong automation engine on its own but becomes unstoppable when you combine it with Azure Functions. We'll show how to create event driven plugins (similar to database triggers) using .NET, Visual Studio and Command Line Tooling. We'll also look at writing a custom Virtual Entity provider so you can surface complex data from other data sources and interact with it as if it were natively stored in Power Platform. This session is a live build and will show the strengths and best use cases for each area.
PowerFx Command Buttons in Action
Join me as we delve into the simplicity and flexibility of creating custom confirmation dialogs, duplicating records, and carrying out bulk updates with enhanced safety measures, all with Power Fx.
This session is perfect for those looking to streamline their Dynamics workflows and for professionals eager to leverage their Dynamics 365 platform to its fullest extent with minimal coding requirements.
Key highlights of this interactive session will include:
- Building user-friendly custom confirmation dialogs to improve user interactions and data input accuracy.
- Efficiently cloning records to streamline data management processes to save time and reduce data entry errors.
- Allow bulk update in a safe way, limiting the chances of mistypes wreaking havoc on your system.
- Integrating Power Automate flows to make Command Buttons much more powerful.
- Show in-app notifications to your users.
Dataverse Functions for Developers: A Deep Dive into Execution, Storage, and Performance
Dataverse Functions are changing how business logic is implemented in the Power Platform — but how do they really work under the hood? In this 300-level session, we’ll go beyond the basics and explore how Functions are stored in Dataverse, how they’re executed internally, and how they compare to Custom APIs and plugins. We’ll also examine how Function security is handled at the table level and what that means for performance and data access. You’ll learn where Functions outperform traditional code-based approaches — and where you’ll still need to reach for C#. Expect live demos, deep metadata analysis, and practical guidance for when to use Functions versus Custom APIs. If you’ve worked with Custom Actions and Custom APIs before, this session will help you understand how Functions fit into the modern Power Platform architecture.
