The paper “the application of smell agent optimization sizing technique to an economic dispatch problem with an island
mini-grid” is about the application of a recently developed metaheuristic artificial intelligence sizing technique called the
smell agent optimization technique based on swarm optimization. The authors demonstrate the ability of this technique to
solve complex combinatorial problems with an island mini-grid consisting of solar panels, wind turbines and battery storage
systems. The economic dispatch problem is simulated and verified on matlab Simulink R2022b with results analyzed based
on the levelized cost of electricity/energy (LCE), loss of power supply probability (LPSP) and excess energy.
Keywords: smell agent optimization (SAO), improved smell agent optimization (ISAO), artificial intelligence (AI)
