Akintunde Idowu is a Nigerian-qualified technology lawyer and Legal Counsel and AI + Law Portfolio Lead at Data Science Nigeria and EqualyzAI. He works across AI governance, data protection, digital regulation, intellectual property and commercial contracting, helping legal, product, engineering and research teams translate legal and ethical obligations into practical decisions about AI design and deployment.

His interests include accountable last-mile AI, governance by design and the legal fit of emerging technologies in African markets. He is particularly interested in how consent, identity, delegated authority, data governance, human oversight and redress should operate when AI systems are deployed through voice interfaces, shared devices and public-service infrastructure.

Akintunde holds an LLB from Obafemi Awolowo University and an LLM in Intellectual Property and Technology Law from Trinity College Dublin.
