Alamin Musa Magaga is a CivicTech professional, AI Engineer, and Data Scientist with over five years of experience designing and implementing AI-driven solutions to tackle pressing societal challenges across Africa. He currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at YandyTech Community and the Technology and Innovation Lead at Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab.
Alamin is the co-creator of MyAIFactChecker, an award-winning AI-powered fact-checking platform that combats misinformation and fake news. The platform received the US West Africa Tech Challenge grant and was showcased at the 2023 Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, where it was recognized as a transformative solution for information integrity in the digital age.
As the developer of CivicaAI, Alamin is working to democratize access to civic information in Nigeria through an AI-powered CivicTech platform that promotes digital rights, civic awareness, and good governance. He also leads the development of a Digital Resilience Chatbot, a solution designed to empower civil society organizations (CSOs), youth activists, and community-based organizations with tools to counter cyber threats, improve digital literacy, and ensure secure online participation in the face of civic space threats.
He is a proud Zindi Ambassador and Chapter Lead for Omdena Kano, where he guides global teams in building ethical and impactful AI solutions across healthcare, climate change, public safety, and finance. His extensive leadership includes roles as Task Lead for Omdena’s projects on tuberculosis analysis, maternal health prediction, student success modeling, and financial risk scoring for African SMEs.
At the Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab, he leads pioneering research and solution development in areas such as AI for climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and biodiversity. He spearheads projects like AyéMọlẹ AI, an innovative climate knowledge assistant supporting voice-based interactions in indigenous Nigerian languages.
He is an alum of notable fellowships, including the Click-On Kaduna Data Science Fellowship, Pan-African Youth Ambassador for Internet Governance, HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship, and the Youth Climate Entrepreneurship Fellowship (Y-CEF).
Driven by a strong commitment to using technology for social good, Alamin continues to mentor youth, collaborate with CSOs and government actors, and build innovative tools that promote transparency, climate action, and civic empowerment across the continent.
