Alan is wired differently and doesn't like to be put into a box, he does his best thinking "outside of the box" ("out of the box" implies you are still inside said box...). This unconventional perspective, combined with his diverse background, enables him to offer different and often unique insights into the challenges facing our modern (digital) society.
As a regulator, Alan wears many hats. He supervises companies to ensure they meet their obligations under applicable cybersecurity legislation, provides guidance to the sector, and contributes his expertise to the development and evaluation of laws and regulations.
Alan is equally committed to protecting individuals. While companies suffer the financial and reputational consequences of a data breach, individuals are often 'forgotten victims' who's personal information is now forever exposed through no fault of their own. His mission is to help both (large) organizations and individuals understand the importance of (personal) security and privacy in this society of the future.
