He is a two-time NASA Space Apps Challenge winner, both alongside longtime collaborator Francesco Massa: in 2023 with FireSpy, a drone-based wildfire detection system powered by computer vision, and in 2024 with EmiScan, a satellite-based environmental monitoring platform. That partnership reached new heights at the T-TeC 2025, the Open Innovation space competition run by Leonardo and Telespazio at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) headquarters in Rome. Competing as a two-person team with Francesco Massa, and still in high school at the time, Alessandro helped build HORUS, an AI-powered Space Domain Awareness platform for protecting space and ground infrastructure, and took 2nd place worldwide in the Prototype category, against graduate- and PhD-level teams from around the world. First place went to a Politecnico di Torino team backed by academic advisors, and the finalist field included a team led by a 2029 astronaut candidate from Jordan's space programme. The result earned HORUS a spot in Leonardo's pre-incubation programme.
He went on to take second prize at the CASSINI Hackathon Italy 2026 with Droplet, an AI-powered water network intelligence platform built on satellite data, and won Codemotion HackNation 2026 with Lumio, a business intelligence platform driven by Agentic GraphRAG.
He was selected among Europe's top 1,000 under-25 developers by HackEurope 2026, reached the finals of DigithON 2025 with ZeroHR, and was named a finalist (24 out of 192) at the Innovation Village Award with GrowMate. Earlier, he won the Italian Space, Language, and Physics Olympiad at the school level.
