I'm a Research Software Engineer working at GeneNetwork, an open-source bioinformatics platform, where I build and maintain backend services, APIs, data-processing systems, and developer tooling for scientific research.

I primarily work with Python and Rust, with interests in systems engineering, data-intensive applications, AI-assisted software development, and functional programming. I have a particular interest in Lisp and Scheme, and enjoy working with Guix to explore reproducible and composable approaches to software development.

My current work includes exploring how AI, retrieval systems, and structured knowledge can improve interaction with complex scientific datasets. I enjoy tackling problems where the solution isn't immediately obvious, understanding the underlying constraints and trade-offs, and turning them into practical, reliable software.
