A full-stack engineer with over twelve years of experience, Alexander currently leads the FinOps Software and Tooling team, working across Atlassian to reduce cloud spend through performance-focused improvements and developer tooling.

Alexander previously ran an app development agency, leading teams across Australia and Europe in web, backend, and native mobile development. Working closely with clients inspired him to co-found a startup that helped schools and businesses track and reduce their carbon footprint, delivering both real climate impact and significant cost savings.

Outside his day job, Alexander is a core member of the E18E community, helping to clean up and speed up the JavaScript ecosystem. He also has a strong passion for API design and runs the APIs You Won’t Hate newsletter and OpenAPI.tools.

Alexander’s strengths are systems architecture and communicating complicated technical concepts to everyday people. Having helped scale technology at numerous startups and worked at enterprise scale, he understands the importance of delivering excellent user experiences and robust systems.
