Amanda Moreno, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at Erikson Institute where she directs the Ph.D. Program in Child Development, founded the MSECE in SEL, and conducts early education research employing social affective neuroscience to promote engaging, inclusive, and liberatory learning spaces. She was the PI of an RCT of a K-2 mindfulness SEL program in Chicago Public Schools and is currently Co-PI of an IES grant studying “brain breaks”. She also developed “The Calm Spot” app (Android), which displays nature videos to improve effortful attention. Dr. Moreno has designed courses including “The Neuroscience of SEL” and has mentored students and faculty in diverse research projects. She is on the editorial board for Early Childhood Research Quarterly, and has published in journals including ECRQ and Trends in Neuroscience and Education. She
has led multi-component research projects for 20+ years, and has designed, facilitated, and evaluated teacher PD initiatives across multiple states.
