Using Umbraco UI Builder to deliver Enterprise Business Solutions

People often think of Umbraco solely in terms of Content, but the release of Umbraco UI Builder with Umbraco 13, it can be the DXP Platform you can use to host a number of Enterprise Business solutions.

In this talk, we discuss how we created two business applications for Defence Medical Services, a timesheet tracking application and an application workflow management tool, using Umbraco UI builder to accelerate our development process.

We will also discuss how this new product changes the value proposition when evaluating the Umbraco platform for future enterprise applications.

The breadth and power of the Umbraco ecosystem, with its HQ supported products such as Forms, Commerce and Deploy, as well the incredible extensibility of the Umbraco platform itself, both through open-source contributions and community packages, make it a compelling choice to base new enterprise business solutions on.

The Evolution of an Award-Winning Platform: Introducing MyNavy with Cdr Morgan (Mogsy) Long.

The Royal Navy was struggling with employee retention. Personnel were frustrated with analogue ways of working on top of a stressful day job. The Navy needed to digitally transform, quickly, to improve staff retention.

The solution was MyNavy. It’s an employee empowerment tool used by 72% of the Royal Navy every day.

The PWA was so useful that The Royal Navy asked Great State to transform the other analogue services causing frustration. There are now 12 product owners across the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Today, MyNavy features an online store for ordering uniform, self-reporting for sickness and absence, and resource databases on health, wellbeing, leadership and more – all accessible from a personal device and it's all built on Umbraco.

Lead technical architect, Andrew McKaskill and Product Owner, Cdr Morgan Long, look at the architecture of the solution and describe how a multi-functional platform evolved from a simple web app to the award-winning solution it is today.
