Andrew Pennington, BS, CCRC, EMT-B, is an EMS Lieutenant and Shift Officer in the volunteer fire and rescue service and a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator at Children’s National Hospital. Since 2022, he has worked in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine under the guidance of Laura Tosi, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in rare bone diseases, particularly osteogenesis imperfecta.

His work at Children’s National has provided experience with osteogenesis imperfecta and other rare skeletal disorders, patient and family education, clinical research, and the challenges patients with rare disease encounter across the healthcare system. His EMS experience provides the corresponding prehospital perspective on caring for patients when specialized expertise may not be immediately available.

Andrew holds a BS in Psychology and is currently a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Anatomy & Translational Sciences. His educational interests focus on translating specialized medical knowledge into practical, field-relevant information for EMS and public-safety professionals.
