Anil Masakal is a seasoned engineering leader with over 22 years of experience building large-scale AI, search, and distributed systems platforms for global technology companies. Currently a Senior Engineering Manager at Dropbox, he leads the development of AI-powered agentic search and knowledge platforms that power Dropbox Dash, an enterprise AI assistant used by over one million users.
Previously, Anil held senior leadership roles at Adobe and Amazon, where he built and scaled critical platform technologies serving hundreds of developer teams and billions of user interactions. At Amazon, he was a founding engineering leader in the Alexa Smart Home organization, architecting AI assistants and intent-resolution systems that process billions of IoT signals daily.
Throughout his career, Anil has been recognized for defining technical vision, building high-performing engineering organizations, and delivering innovative AI and distributed systems products at a global scale. He holds an engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), one of India’s top technical institutions.
