Archita Arun (she/her) is an interdisciplinary researcher, writer, and singer from India. She is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Performance Studies at Northwestern University. As part of her artistic practice, Archita works with oral histories to ponder questions of (be)longing, memory, love, and loss. In her research, she studies the embodiment of desire, pleasure, and refusal by South Asian femme and queer artists in the diaspora across music, performance art, visual culture, and popular media. By centering the fleshiness of sound, her work explores the ways in which minoritarian subjects perform refusal. Her areas of research include sound studies, minoritarian performance theory, psychoanalysis, diaspora studies, and queer of color critique. Archita holds a B.A. in Theater and Creative Writing from NYU Abu Dhabi and an M.A. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University.
