Arturo Araya's career has taken a somewhat unusual path from concert halls to distributed systems.

After earning advanced degrees in Cello Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and performing professionally as principal cellist of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Arturo pivoted from music to technology and never looked back.

Today, he works as a software architect and engineering leader at Fifth Third Bank, focused on building secure, scalable systems and helping teams navigate the rapidly changing landscape of modern software development.

Arturo is fascinated by the intersection of people, systems, and automation. Outside of work, that curiosity manifests in a sprawling homelab, AI experiments, self-built smart-home technology, and the occasional event-driven coffee machine. He firmly believes that the best way to understand a technology is to build something unnecessarily ambitious with it.
