Making Data Centre Devices AI-Ready with MCP

Data centre operators juggle multiple protocols like Redfish, SNMP, IPMI, REST etc just to talk to different hardware, each with its own tooling and learning curve. This makes provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting far slower than it should be. What if any AI agent could talk to your infrastructure without knowing a single protocol?

By building an MCP server from scratch, we turned devices like UPS units and other rack-level hardware into AI-ready infrastructure that any authorized agent can connect to out of the box. We give the agent a clean map of what the device can do and let it figure out the right action, no protocol knowledge needed. The design works whether your device has a handful of sensors or hundreds of endpoints. Biggest lesson: keep the interface simple, AI agents work best when things aren't overcomplicated.
