Anton is a software engineer at Isovalent, a startup behind the Cilium Kubernetes CNI, where he specializes on the eBPF datapath.

During his career, Anton worked in many interesting companies and with a plenty of different technologies, though he prefers to work with systems-level software and write code in C.

In his spare time, he loves to travel, climb, hike, run, swim, and pilot small planes.

Kubernetize it! Bringing Cloud Native to the Legacy World with Cilium Mesh

Many companies have become cloud native or are on the path to get there, but a major question that remains is how to connect existing workloads that cannot be migrated with the new cloud native world of containers and Kubernetes.

The Kubernetes API is a well-known tool to efficiently manage large and/or disparate systems. Previously, Cilium Cluster Mesh extended this control plane across multiple Kubernetes clusters. Cilium Mesh is the next natural step in this evolution by enabling connecting any workload as if it was part of a Kubernetes cluster.

This talk introduces Cilium Mesh and demonstrates how it was used to build a distributed control plane to manage and connect thousands of workloads across public cloud and on-premise data centers while still being able to leverage familiar Cilium security and observability features. The audience will walk away knowing how to connect their legacy infrastructure with cloud native and how to control it in a Kubernetes style.
