EVENT OVERVIEW

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Austin, in partnership with IEEE, is a thriving, practitioner-led technology community of nearly 2,000 members dedicated to advancing computing knowledge through collaboration, innovation, and education.

Our monthly in-person meetups bring together 80 to 130+ engineers, architects, researchers, founders, and students from across Central Texas. We focus on high-signal technical talks, hands-on workshops, and candid engineering discussions—no vendor pitches or sales theatre, just practical architectures, honest trade-offs, and lessons learned from people who ship.

🗓️ Cadence: Monthly (In-Person), typically 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM CT

September 2026 Special Workshop: The A to Z of Building AI Agents with MongoDB & LangGraph — An instructor-led, hands-on workshop with 130+ builders in attendance.

August 2026 (1-Year Anniversary Showcase) & Summer Series: Deep-dive technical sessions covering AI Agent Security, Big Data & Healthcare Analytics, Autonomous Agent Crews, and Cloud-Native Platform Engineering.

SESSION FORMATS & WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We welcome speakers from industry, startups, academia, and independent research backgrounds. We encourage proposals formatted as:

• Technical Talk (20 Minutes, including Q&A): Focused architectural breakdowns, production case studies, or applied research insights.
• Hands-On Workshop / Live Demo (45–90 Minutes): Interactive coding sessions, reference implementations, or tool walk-throughs where attendees build alongside you.
• Panel Discussion: Thoughtful participation in moderated multi-speaker discussions on emerging industry shifts.

What makes a winning proposal?

1. Concrete Takeaways: Show the architecture diagram, the code, the benchmark data, or the failure mode—not just high-level slides.
2. Real-World Context: Share what worked in production, what broke, and the trade-offs behind your engineering decisions.
3. In-Person Engagement: All sessions are delivered live and in person in downtown Austin to foster high-value Q&A and networking.
