Bird Friendly Communities for a More Humane Canada

North American bird populations are decreasing at alarming rates. with an estimated 3 billion birds loss since 1970. Help us reverse this trend with coordinated, science-backed action through Nature Canada's Bird Friendly City Certification Program.

Birds play an essential role in maintaining healthy and resilient ecosystems in our communities as indicator species, without them our communities wouldn't be the same!

Nature Canada teams up with environment and bird advocacy groups, Indigenous communities, municipal officials, and other community stakeholders to ensure our built environments are safe havens for birds rather than a source of threats.

Many of threats wild birds face include: collisions with windows and vehicles, predation by outdoor cats, habitat loss, climate change and pesticide use. This presentation will educate attendees on how they can take action in their communities to make their cities a more humane, livable city or town for both humans, wild birds and biodiversity at large.
