Behzad Najafi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano and the Head of Data Science at the DataOptima Lab of the same department. His industrial activities are focused on applications of machine learning-based IoT-driven approach in decarbonization of various sectors including commercial/residential buildings, food&beverage, and manufacturing. His research activities have instead been focused on ML-driven modelling of indoor environments and HVAC systems, smart meter-driven building characterization, flexible grid-interactive buildings, and micro-generation systems’ optimization. He has also been the lecturer of M.Sc. courses dedicated to physical/data-driven building simulation and HVAC systems’ modeling since 2016.
