Since 2000, I have worked in at ABN AMRO in many different departments, especially BI environments. From 2014, I started to immerse myself in data visualisation because I was dissatisfied with the products I was making. I was 'always doing something' because I did not have the proper knowledge. In 2014 I started to dive into this and learned a lot about the field of 'visualising data', thanks to the books and workshops of people like Stephen Few, Andy Kirk and Alberto Cairo.
Visualising data is the last part of a data project, with which we will present or communicate the end product of the data to our users. Often less time is spent on this phase, or it comes under pressure due to the overrun of earlier parts of the project. Since 2014 I have been working hard to get more attention for this 'last part' and this great field of work.

Since 2018 we have been working with Power BI, and presenting and communicating data is an essential part of Power BI.

Besides working at ABN AMRO, I have my own company ClearDataViz, and I am also co-hosting the podcast Data Voorstellingen
