Benjamin Hiramatsu Ireland, Ph.D. (Panel Chair) is Director of Asian Studies and Associate Professor of Modern Language Studies at Texas Christian University where he teaches Japanese and French history, literature, and language. His forthcoming book, Voices Beyond the Grave: Japanese Internment in the French Pacific (University of Hawaiʻi Press, 2026) examines a transnational Second World War history of Japanese diaspora, incarceration, and internment in the French Oceania and Australia. His publications on Transpacific Indigenous and AANHPI Studies—bridging history, literature, and social justice—appear in Verge: Studies in Global Asias (forthcoming 2026), British Journal for Military History (2025), Journal of Literary & Cultural Disability Studies (2022), among other interdisciplinary journals.
