Bethany loves crafting user stories and enhancing user experiences! She strives to make a positive impact on people's lives through her skills in design, code, and leadership.

As a Cloud Advocate at Microsoft, she engages with students, aspiring developers, and entrepreneurs to help them learn and grow in Artificial Intelligence (AI). She does this through writing articles, hosting workshops, and speaking at events about AI and cloud computing. She has a strong background in community and skilling others, thanks to her previous roles as a Program Coordinator at Andela and Gold Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador which built her passion for community and skilling others.

She comes from a community of marathon runners but decided to run code instead. Outside tech she defines herself as creative. You will find her testing out new hobbies, sketching or deeply engrossed in a book.

Building an Agentic AI Application with Prompty and Azure AI Foundry

In this session, I’ll share how I built a lightweight AI agent using Prompty and Azure OpenAI to automate GitHub issue tagging, one of the many small but time-consuming tasks in open source projects. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how I use prompt engineering to streamline contributor experience, enhance repo hygiene, and turn repetitive maintenance work into intelligent automation. Whether you're managing community-driven projects or just exploring AI tools in DevRel, this talk will show you how agents can help you focus on what truly matters: empowering developers.

Build AI solutions with Azure AI Foundry

When developing a generative AI application, selecting the right model is an essential first step. However, the true differentiator lies in how you utilize your input. In this session, you will discover how to maximize the potential of your model through advanced prompt engineering techniques, integrating your model with various data sources, and enabling it to perform actionable tasks. Additionally, you will learn how to leverage Azure AI Foundry as the ideal platform to start building custom AI solutions.

A gentle introduction to Deep Learning

Artificial intelligence relies on a few mathematical principles that can seem scary when you look at them from a distance. But if you take a step by step approach, you will find that the math involved is not too complex and that any software developer can understand the basics. In this session, Bethany Jepchumba, a Cloud Advocate working with Microsoft will share his recent journey discovering the basics of Deep Learning. We will not make data scientists out of you, but we will enable you to understand what people talk about when they mention artificial intelligence. We will see how Azure can help you with tools, services and machines. Last but not least, we will also have a discussion about the ethics of AI and what we should be careful about.

From prompt to production

In the ever-evolving landscape of AI, the ability to efficiently transition from an experimental AI model to a fully functional application is crucial. we'll embark on an adventure that takes you from the initial spark of a LLM model to a fully functional, deploy-ready application. This workshop will cover the end-to-end process, focusing on experimentation with AI models, evaluating their effectiveness, and deploying them using Azure AI Studio.

Data to Dialogue: develop an end-to-end RAG application

In the ever-evolving landscape of AI, the ability to efficiently transition from an experimental AI model to a fully functional application is crucial. We’ll embark on an adventure that takes you from the initial spark of a LLM model to a fully functional, deploy-ready application using PromptFlow, Azure AI and Python.

By the end of this session, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of the entire process, from the initial concept of an AI model to its final deployment in a functional application.

Building a Multi-Agent AI Application with Prompty and Azure AI Foundry

Join me for an exciting session on building intelligent multi-agent AI applications using Prompty and Azure AI Foundry. We'll start with an overview of Azure AI Foundry and Prompty, and explore how agent systems are designed, and deployed.

Next, I’ll guide you through a hands-on project demo showing these tools and components in action. You’ll see how agents use knowledge and available tools to perform actions based on user query. Along the way, I’ll share practical tips on handling tricky error scenarios, debugging, and evaluating your AI systems effectively.
