Evolutionary journey towards Cloud leveraging GCP Cloud Migration
Cloud migration and modernisation is a continuous process that involves significant organisational change management spanning people, process and technology. Taking a holistic approach will not only help you navigate the cloud journey successfully but also help ensure that you’re organisation realises new benefits such as agility , scale , resiliency , cost optimization once your workload run in cloud. In this talk we will talk about critical cloud migration phases and key deliverables duding each phase. We will also demonstrate on how to assess workload using GCP mFit tool and also how to migrate the workload to cloud using GCP migrateForCompute tool. The talk will also include best practices on how to setup cloud governance , account management and leverage landing zone.
Chaos Engineering for Cloud native Apps
Improve application resilience with chaos testing by deliberately introducing faults that simulate real-world outages. Azure Chaos Studio Preview / AWS Fault Injection Simulator is a fully managed chaos engineering experimentation platform for accelerating discovery of hard-to-find problems, from late-stage development through production. Disrupt your apps intentionally to identify gaps and plan mitigations before your customers are impacted by a problem.
Building of an IoT reference architecture using serverless components leveraging Azure Serverless
Serverless architectures offer elasticity, low entry cost and faster time to market without the operational overhead of managing servers. They are proven to be effective in many use cases such as Event Streaming, IoT data processing, Chatbots, Cron jobs, Microservices, etc. Serverless first mindset for building end to end solutions using serverless stack.
The session will demonstrate the IoT reference architecture build using serverless stack end to end. When building cloud native applications you can leverage the entire serverless stack starting from compute, object store, database, messaging, etc. During the talk we will demonstrate the building of an entire IoT Reference Architecture using serverless components leveraging Azure serverless services. We will demo on how IoT devices (Raspberry Pi with few sensors) will securely connect and transmit data to Cloud gateway. We will see in action how the IoT data streams using serverless data ingestion and further storing time-series telemetry data efficiently with serverless databases.
The session will also touch base on Serverless design patterns about how to leverage Hexagonal architecture as a serverless design pattern which enables easy migration to any cloud vendor (Avoid vendor lock-in) with least impact to the application if the need arises.
Serverless is definitely a step closer towards NoOps and becoming the de facto standard for building greenfield Cloud native applications.
Accelerate adoption of DevSecOps by building Blueprint Framework
The session focused on discussing the importance of accelerating the adoption of DevSecOps in an enterprise through the creation of a reusable Blueprint Framework. DevSecOps is an approach that integrates security practices into the software development process. The focus of the session is how to build reusable DevSecOps Blueprint.
In a large-scale organization, the actual expense of implementing CI/CD lies in the repetitive toil required to recreate identical or similar pipeline functionalities. Throughout our CI/CD journey, we made a significant discovery that the key to building potent and efficient CI/CD or automation testing pipelines is to avoid writing pipeline logic altogether. The breakthrough came from concentrating on the atomic level of reusable code within pipeline stages along with security stages. This involved leveraging the potential of crafting small, opinionated, extensively tested, and appropriately versioned libraries. By doing so, we unlocked the capability for teams to easily assemble pipelines by piecing together functionalities from a comprehensive catalog of libraries at scale.
Key Discussion Points:
* Introduction to DevSecOps.
* Benefits of a Blueprint Framework.
* Implementing Automated Security checks.
* Defining Security Policies and standards.
* Securing Infrastructure as code.
* Securing CI/CD pipelines.
* Promoting Adoption and Encouraging success.
Conclusion:
The "Accelerate Adoption of DevSecOps by Building Blueprint Framework" session concluded with participants gaining a comprehensive understanding of the importance of DevSecOps and the practical steps involved in building a Blueprint Framework for successful adoption.
Leveraging Development Patterns in Infrastructure & Pipeline as Code: Mastering Modern DevOps
In this session , we will delve into how integrating development patterns into Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Pipeline as Code (PaC) can transform your DevOps practices. We will explore key patterns such as modularization, state management, and environment parity for IaC, alongside declarative pipelines, multi-stage workflows, and security as code for PaC. These practices will be examined through practical examples and case studies, demonstrating how they enhance automation, scalability, and reliability in your infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
Attendees will gain actionable insights into leveraging these patterns to create more maintainable and efficient workflows. We will cover advanced strategies, including using module registries, pipeline templates, and integrating security tools within your pipelines. By understanding and applying these techniques, you'll be equipped to streamline your DevOps processes, improve consistency across environments, and ensure robust security and compliance. The session will also feature a Q&A segment, allowing for interactive discussions and knowledge sharing.
