Blake Johnson is an Assistant Provost and leads the Division of Student Success and Retention at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. In this role, he oversees First-Year Advising, Career Services, Academic Success, Student Disability Services, TRIO (SSS & Upward Bound), New Student & Family Programs, Academic Programs Support, and Student Information System Initiatives. He also serves on Dean’s Council, SEM Committee, Budget Council, EAB Leadership Team, Executive Committee for the Academic Advising Council, and HLC Quality Initiative Taskforce.
Blake has worked in higher education since 2002 with a wide range of initiatives. He has overseen enrollment and retention programs at four-year institutions and community colleges, with emphases on first-generation students, transfer and nontraditional students, and platforms which integrate holistic advising and first-year curriculum. He has also worked with faculty in the areas of assessment, Universal Design, and the fusion of classroom and career.
Blake holds an MS and PhD from George Mason University and has a postgraduate credential in Higher Education Leadership from The Citadel.
