Brian is a native of Chattanooga, TN, an up-and-coming tech hub powered by world-class gigabit internet and fried chicken. Brian's foray into software engineering began when he was 10 years old after his dad bought him "HTML 4 for Dummies," enabling Brian to pursue his childhood dream of creating a hand-illustrated online entomology field guide. As Brian's arsenal of skills expanded, he became a pioneer in NoSQL development at the age of 15, writing a message board that bypassed SQL entirely in favor of Perl scripts that simply rewrote themselves to update hard-coded arrays. Despite his early addiction to Perl, Brian somehow managed to pursue a career in software development and received his C.S. degree with honors from the University of Tennessee. Brian is now a senior software engineer and primary Android developer at Spire Labs, a company dedicated to encouraging people to live happier, healthier lives.
