Brian Hammons is a Principal Solutions Architect at AWS, focused on Kubernetes-native AI agent platforms and cloud-native modernization. He recently led the first AWS-backed contribution of the kubernetes-sigs Agent Sandbox CRD into the open source awslabs/ai-on-eks project, an end-to-end pattern combining the Agent Sandbox CRD, gVisor, and FQDN-aware egress via Cilium. A member of the team that launched Amazon EKS, Brian has spent nearly a decade bootstrapping open source projects and communities, including eksworkshop.com, Data on EKS, Twelve-Factor Modernization, and CNOE. He has helped launch some of the largest Kubernetes platform deployments in the cloud, and is a longtime advocate for widening access to cloud-native expertise, particularly through mentoring engineers from underrepresented backgrounds entering the Kubernetes ecosystem.

Some of the questions we will go over are: How do we deploy using infrastructure technologies like CloudFormation and Terraform? How can CLI clients such as kops, kubeadm, juju-charms and minikube be used to interact with Kubernetes? What does a clean CI/CD pipeline look like using AWS? How do we integrate with tools such as Maven? In this code-driven workshop you will learn how to package, deploy, scale, and monitor your Java application using Kubernetes and the AWS cloud.
