João Gilberto Magalhães is a hands-on software architect and technology leader specializing in regulated, transaction-heavy platforms where security, compliance, and operational integrity are critical. He has built and operated production systems end to end, from backend architecture and distributed services to infrastructure, cybersecurity controls, and disaster recovery, across regulated betting and financial environments in Brazil, Canada, Australia, and the Isle of Man.

He combines deep software engineering expertise in PHP, Python, and distributed systems with practical infrastructure leadership in Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and CI/CD. João is the founder of ByJG Inc. and maintains an open source ecosystem spanning GitOps tooling, container infrastructure, and PHP libraries.

He has previously spoken at PHP Conference Brasil, PHPeste, Berlin Buzzwords, DevFest Winnipeg, and Prairie Dev Con, and has worked as a university professor, CTO, and software architect.
