Camani’s twenty four years in education consist of serving Riverside, Los Angeles, & San Bernardino counties where she helped lead programs that would foster student involvement and inclusion in their academic setting. She has had the opportunity to work side by side with teachers in the classroom, developing S.E.L. curriculum and lesson planning while co teaching. She has served as a Mentor Teacher of Teachers & Graduate Assistant. She is Co-Founder of URBAN Ed Consulting, which is an educational consulting company that mentors first-generation, historically marginalized youth and provides Culturally Responsive S.E.L. Professional Development (using the V.I.L.L.A.G.E. concept) and coaching for teachers and staff. She is currently working on her PhD research at Claremont Graduate University entitled, “Disrupting the School to Prison Pipeline for Black Students in Secondary Schools: Understanding Teacher’s Culturally Sustaining Pedagogical Practices.”
