WoW Spoofer: How to Make Your Friends Go Out With You

The session will take a top-to-bottom approach into investigating and reverse engineering World of Warcraft's TCP-based communication protocol for implementing a MitM-like server using Wireshark. The goal being to convince your friends to stop playing WoW 24/7.

The talk will be interactive and will guide the public through the process of generating a server that reproduces the authentication process of a real WoW server[1] with the goal being to restrict access to the game for targeted accounts, and permit access for the rest. Targeted accounts receive error messages like "You have been Permanently Suspended". Ways to hijack the official server will also be presented.

Towards the end of the talk, real-life results of the experiment will be presented and conclusions will be drawn (like why you should not use technology to solve people problems).

For more information, the code is publicly available[2].
