I'm VP of AI Consulting Transformation at Kyndryl, where I created the Forward Deployed Engineering capability - engineers embedded with clients to build, ship, and own outcomes, not just advise; now scaling to 22,000. I focus on agentic AI, open source, and governance that ships rather than stalls.

I've been recognised six times as a Microsoft MVP in Artificial Intelligence, and I'm a contributor to ISO/IEC 21031:2024 (Software Carbon Intensity) through my work with the Green Software Foundation, where I formerly served as Steering Committee Vice-Chair. I'm currently pursuing a doctorate in Green Software Engineering at the University of East London (2022-2027) and was an OpenUK New Year's Honours 2025/26 recipient for contributions to open source.

I co-host Securing the Realm, a D&D-inspired podcast on AI governance and AI-driven development (securing.quest). My background spans law, engineering, and open source leadership - I think about regulation, liability, and compliance as design constraints, not afterthoughts. I stay hands-on, building with agentic AI, open source tooling, and green software.

Securing the Realm and Autonomous Adventure: DM-less D&D with Azure AI
---
Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) has long thrived on the creativity and guidance of the Dungeon Master (DM), orchestrating adventures for players. Recent advancements in AI and large language models (LLMs) present a new opportunity: a DM-less D&D experience. This session focuses on the practical application of LLMs and SLMs to facilitate an autonomous, engaging tabletop RPG experience, allowing every player to take in the narrative.

We'll explore the technical architecture behind deploying LLMs and fine tuned SLMs for DM-less gameplay, emphasizing the integration of guardrails and memory systems for coherent storytelling. Key to this is maintaining a safe and immersive environment; so we'll also cover security measures such as red teaming and jailbreak prevention techniques that safeguard against exploits and ensure content appropriateness.

The technical overview will include audio inputs for voice and natural language understanding, enhancing player-AI interaction. Content generation by language models will be examined, demonstrating how AI can dynamically adapt stories, environments, and challenges in response to player actions.

Participants will receive access to the open-source repository housing the project's codebase, encouraging collaboration and innovation within the community. All content is based on the Open Game Licence, and all code is based on MIT, to avoid IP concerns.
Key Takeaways:
- Technical insights into using LLMs and fine tuned SLMs for creating a DM-less D&D game.
- Understanding of guardrails, memory systems, and security strategies critical for AI in gaming.
