Modern API Versioning and Enterprise-Ready AI enablement with Spring Cloud Gateway

Spring Cloud Gateway now adds first-class support for API versioning to help teams evolve services safely and
predictably. The addition of API versioning support to Spring Cloud Gateway allows for enhanced version
negotiation, enhanced route matching, better backwards compatibility and improved deprecation workflows. By
generating, standards-compliant OpenAPI specifications from domain-centric models and action-oriented API
endpoint designs, we’ll discuss how shifting toward action-based definitions produces clearer intent, improves
cross-team API discoverability, and enables richer tooling support, including compatibility with Model Context
Protocol–based client tools. By aligning gateway-defined routes and versioning metadata with well-structured
OpenAPI documents, teams can automate client generation, enforce consistency, and improve their use with AI
enabled intelligent applications and tools. Thus providing a stable base that lets teams advance their applications
into new opportunities. In this session, we’ll walk through practical patterns for header-based, URI-based, and
media-type versioning, and show how these strategies integrate seamlessly with the new Spring Boot 4
application model. Attendees will leave with clear guidance on designing developer-friendly, scalable API
versioning strategies that align with modern microservice and edge-service architectures.

Spring Cloud Supercharged for Production-Ready Apps

Spring Cloud's open-source components are incredibly powerful—they provide robust foundations for service
discovery, configuration management, API routing, and data pipelines right out of the box. Many developers have
been relying on these open source projects for years to build cloud native applications that hundreds of millions
of people use every day. As with any open source project, using Spring Cloud in production often requires extra
effort to conform to additional standards around security, resiliency, and management capabilities. In some cases
it makes sense to build the necessary capabilities yourself, but what if there is a done-for-you solution that takes
the open source Spring Cloud components and allows you to bring them to production out of the box. Enter the
Spring Cloud offerings from VMware Tanzu Platform. With API Gateway, Tanzu Data Flow, and Application
Services on Tanzu Platform, you get all the power of open source Spring Cloud with production-ready
capabilities like integrated OAuth2/JWT security, advanced rate limiting, visual pipeline editors, and managed
service instances—ready to go for all your production use cases. This code-centric session will explore both the
open source and commercial Spring Cloud offerings through real-world scenarios, so no matter which route you
choose, you will have all the knowledge you need to build secure, scalable applications faster.

The Modern Spring Workflow: Enterprise-Ready Delivery and AI-Boosted Coding with Tanzu

Getting Spring applications to production—and keeping them there—requires more than great code. Security,
compliance, upgrades, and performance all shape the path from idea to enterprise-ready delivery. This session
shows how VMware Tanzu streamlines that entire workflow. See how Application Advisor automates Spring Boot
upgrades while integrating cleanly with AI coding assistants, how the Tanzu GenAI Service provides safe, selfservice access to approved LLMs, and how Tanzu Spring Extensions enforce consistent guardrails across
teams. Finally, learn how the Tanzu Java Buildpack optimizes every Spring app for faster startup and lower
memory use. If you want to deliver modern Spring applications with more speed, confidence, and operational
readiness, this session provides the blueprint.
