Learn to ship containers to Azure using modern tooling
This hands-on workshop is designed for people interested in software deployment and release processes. Participants will gain experience in containerizing and deploying a full-stack application using a modern cloud stack. For advanced participants interested in modifying the existing codebase, I will show how to use GitHub Copilot.
Content:
-Containerization: Prepare applications for deployment by containerizing its React frontend and .NET-based backend components.
-Azure Container Apps: Deploy the application into two distinct Azure Container Apps, enabling communication between them.
-Azure SQL Integration: Connect the deployed application to a native Azure SQL serverless database service.
-CI/CD Pipelines: Use GitHub Actions to automate deployment / release processes.
The workshop provides a practical intro to integrating open-source software with Azure and DevOps tools.

Dealing with Red Tape: Software development and deployment in the finance sector
Working in a regulated environment brings challenges to software development and CI/CD - both for developers and for management. This talk will cover the challenges migrating and developing in Azure in a risk-averse environment with restrictive permissions and talk a bit about stakeholder management in that field.
This talk also covers the day-to-day challenges of developing and deploying software in Azure in finance and dealing with data sources/data cleanup/anonymization and data deletion in dev and production environment. This includes how to integrate regulatory aspects into the software development lifecycle through Automation in the toolchain (e.g. team-based approvals) and by adding tools that reduce risks during the software lifecycle, e.g. Github Dependabot, Sonarqube/Sonarcloud and EAM tools such as Leanix.
