Chuck Piotrowski is a 20+ year veteran of solving records, information, and data management challenges.
Coming of professional age during the transition from paper to digital, his first adventure was in a history archive where he merged the old and new by serving as an assistant curator of manuscripts (old) while building the organization’s first databases and archiving its first digital artifacts (new).
The core skill of “the right information at the right time” translated very well to Silicon Valley where he worked as part of a worldwide information asset management program based out of the legal department of the disc drive maker Seagate. There he focused on records management and e-discovery for most of the company’s North American sites.
While serving as Director of Information Asset Management and University Archivist at University of California, Santa Cruz, he led the 10-campus system on compliance with new and complex regulations like HIPAA, USA PARTIOT ACT, and California’s groundbreaking breach notification law.
More recently he generated, transmitted, and delivered a records management program for a power company in Vermont, CVPS, which was eventually recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the most trusted companies in America. While there, Chuck served as a logistics grunt and social media leader connecting people, communities, and the company during storms, including the devastating Tropical Storm Irene. He also led the 300+ volunteer workforce that collected the most pints of blood in any single day community Red Cross blood drive in US history.
Finally, after a deep dive in IT architecting the information architecture, data curation, and data science programs at GE Research and Development, Chuck started PIOT (Pee-Ott). PIOT provides a wide variety of archives, records, information, data, and knowledge management services. Since then he has consulted with Fortune 100 companies in manufacturing, bio-tech, and health insurance, as well as non-profits, state government, individuals, and community organizations.
