Running Complex Network Function Workloads with Nephio

Nephio’s goal is to deliver carrier-grade Kubernetes-based cloud native intent automation and common automation templates that simplify the deployment and management of multi-vendor cloud infrastructure and network functions across edge deployments. Continuous reconciliation ensures that lifecycle operations are not “fire-and-forget” as in traditional models, but desired state is continuously maintained. Gitops principles and a common packaging structure simplifies use cases that have traditionally followed siloed and often laboriously manual processes.

As Nephio adoption in the telco industry widens, support for existing workloads is required. These are based on helm charts, and can be complex. The industry needs a way to support these workloads in Nephio as well as a way to easily evolve towards a pure Nephio approach. This talk will show the value that Nephio brings, through a demonstration of capabilities in LCM and the SDKs. By the end of the session, audience members will understand the effectiveness of the Nephio way of working with existing and new Network Function types, and the capability of the Nephio SDKs to simplify onboarding.
